Someone at the table mentioned activated almonds.

"It's just almonds in water", Rose said.

"I just now hear of this for the first time", Linus said.

I had the feeling something was odd about this conversation. Linus didn't ask any questions about how water can somehow activate almonds. Apparently everyone at the table knew exactly what activated almonds were, but no one except Rose really wanted to admit it or talk about it, including myself.
